How do I download an EBSCOhost eBook?

Answer

As of April 14, 2026, you will need to use Thorium Reader software to view any EBSCO eBooks that you download for offline use (reading online is not affected, nor are individual chapter downloads).

Thorium Reader is EBSCO's replacement for Adobe Digital Editions software. The main difference is that instead of logging into a third-party account like Adobe, you'll now use an auto-generated passphrase when downloading an eBook in EBSCO.

Download Thorium Reader. Please note that there is not yet a mobile app version, although this will be coming at a future date.

For step-by-step instructions, watch EBSCO's tutorial video. More information is available in the Thorium Reader User Guide
